IPA - International Police Association - this is a very large international professional non-governmental (public ) organization that has managed to combine the current and former police officers, working in different countries of the world .
Its history the International Police Association initiative starts with Arthur Troup - UK police sergeant . Troup actively corresponded with his friends after the Second World War, shared his experience in the profession with colleagues from countries such as Finland , Sweden , Norway and Denmark .
But the official start of the reference work of the association is considered to be 1 January 1950 . It was at this time was created British section of the International Police Association . The Ukrainian national section of the IPA went only 6 June 1997 during the 15th World Congress of the International Association of Police in Quebec, Canada .
Today, the IPA is considered to be the largest organization that united within themselves and civilians and police officers. As part of the Association , there are about 300,000 members , with offices in 64 countries .
This is a non-governmental organization in the Social and Economic Council of Europe and the UN. In the ranks of the Association are professional police officers, and their membership does not depend on the place of service and the positions they held , race , religion , language or ideological position . Police Association is independent of the trade unions, political bodies , is not part of any other organizations or groups . The main thing in the Association - is a complete openness to the police of any state , there are no obstacles in dealing with the police of the country and other countries , the free exchange of professional knowledge.
One of the main activities of the professional committee IPA is a study of police work, its history, and structural changes in the course of time. In addition, the objectives of the Association are to study the dynamics of crime, the promotion of new technology and techniques used in the investigation and combating crime, the publication of the results of the analysis and conclusions of the national sections.
